Analysis and Reporting Officer Jobs

James P Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH), BRAC University and Helen Keller International (HKI) implement the Food Security and Nutrition Surveillance Project (FSNSP) under financing from The European Union. The FSNSP, in partnership with the Government of Bangladesh monitors the food security, nutrition and health status of children and women in Bangladesh and promotes the use of this information for policy and program development and advocacy at the national and sub-national levels. The FSNSP is looking to fill the following key positions:

Position: Analysis and Reporting Officer

The Analysis and Reporting Officer will serve as an analyst on the only source of seasonal, nationally representative data on food security and nutrition in Bangladesh. S/he will be responsible for producing all first drafts of surveillance bulletins as well as conducting literature searches that provide context to annual data reports.  This position will provide suitable opportunities to learn and grow as a researcher and analyst. This position will report directly to Manager - Learning, Research, and Evaluation (LRE) at HKI.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaises with data management unit for data quality assurances
  • Prepare datasets for final analysis; reviewing available literature to ensure that the indicators used in the system are consistent with international best practices
  • Assist with the formulation  of analytical plans
  • Analyze the FSNSP dataset for routine reports in addition to special publications and journal articles
  • Prepare draft reports, bulletins and abstracts under the direction of the Manager - Learning, Research, and Evaluation (LRE) at HKI and Project Manager of FSNSP
  • Attend selected working groups and conferences on behalf of FSNSP
Experience/Skills Needed
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience with at least two years experience in analyzing large data sets.
  • Experience in working with nutrition and food security data sets preferred.
  • Excellent writing skills in English.
  • Excellent skills in statistical packages such as SPSS or Stata; Stata is greatly preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of applied statistics
  • Experience in positive mentoring and coaching of other colleagues
  • Excellent critical thinking and analysis skills
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in writing and producing professional reports
Education:
  • Masters in social science or applied statistics is preferred but persons with other relevant academic areas and/or work experience will also be considered
