Field Research Assistant (4 posts) with the Respiratory Vaccines under the Centre for Vaccine Sciences (Internal Advertisement #208/13)

icddr,b invites applications from suitable female candidates (staff members & CSA holders)  for the position of Field Research Assistant (4 posts) with the Respiratory Vaccines under the Centre for Vaccine Sciences. The appointment will be made on a Contractual Service Agreement (CSA) basis for 6 months, which may be renewable depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
Duty station – Dhaka
Salary – Tk.20,990.00/-(consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. No other benefit is admissible.

Job Profile
  • Project Implementation: Receive project assignment from PI, project coordinator and Field Researcher Officer Attend  training conducted by PI/Project coordinator/FRO (Field Research Officer) to understand  research objectives, project scope, questionnaire, survey methodology, timelines, targeted demographics and areas etc.; Visit field sites as per plan constructed by Field Research Officer; Collect morbidity, mortality, GCP-standard clinical trials as well as demographic details of a statistically significant number of people / households, as understood from project scope; Determine adequate availability and representation of target population; Select suitable candidate for clinical trials as per inclusion/exclusion criteria,; Administer weekly surveillance and daily sick patient follow up questionnaire to target population; Convince respondents to provide  study sample as well as answers to the complete questionnaire; Validate data collected with FRO, and escalate any issues; Seek FRO’s guidance to resolve issues in interacting with respondents and collecting data; Submit data collected to data management team periodically in order to support research by uncovering evidence.
  • Team Support: Train new FRAs in study methods; Demonstrate how to conduct interviews to team members; active participation in study related training session, observe team members while they conduct interviews; Intervene and moderate the interview with an uncooperative respondent, if required; Provide feedback to individual team members on their interviewing skills; Share experience and learning within the team in order to improve the productivity of the team.
Requirements:
Education and Relevant Experience:
  • Graduate, preferably Masters in Life Sciences or any other relevant domain;
  • 3 years of experience in the field of research.
Functional Competencies:
  • Knowledge of community based clinical research, qualitative data collection as well as urban demographic data collection procedure.
