Field Research Officer with the Research Group of Zoonotic Diseases under the Centre for Communicable Diseases (Advertisement #209/13)

icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Field Research Officer with the Research Group of Zoonotic Diseases under the Centre for Communicable Diseases. The appointment will be made on a Contractual Service Agreement (CSA) basis for 11 months, which may be renewable depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.

Duty Station – Dhaka
Salary – Tk.33,386/-(consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. No other benefit is admissible.

Job Profile
  • Collection of biological specimens  from animals particularly from poultry, domestic and wild animals;
  • Data collection by interviewing the animal owners, farmers, poultry sellers, butchers etc;
  • Sample processing, maintain cold chain, storage and arranging transportation from field to icddr,b laboratory; and preservation of the sample;
  • Data management and assist the Research Investigator in preliminary data analysis and report writing
  • Logistic organization, field team management; maintain good relations with study team as well as community participants;
  • Prepare of weekly and monthly report regarding field activity and submit report to respective supervisor and Principal Investigator (PI) on time.
Requirements 
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with MS from any recognized university with good academic records;
  • 3 years work experience in the relevant field;
  • Prior experience in working with poultry, domestic and wild animal, restrain and specimen collection would be required;
  • Knowledge in epidemiology and data management skills would be preferred;
  • Ability to identify and facilitate prompt mitigation of any arising field difficulties;
  • Capacities to recognize, clearly communicate and correct any interpersonal conflicts amongst project team members;
  • Should be knowledgeable about quantitative data collection tools and techniques;
  • Willingness to extensive travel and work in diverse geographical locations of Bangladesh;
  • Computer proficiency in using MS Office is essential;
  • Must have excellent motivational, interpersonal skills;  
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Bangla are essential.
