Senior Finance Manager:Habitat for Humanity International

Habitat for Humanity International is an International NGO working in Bangladesh to eliminate poverty housing. Habitat is dedicated to eradicate substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and is looking for interested and qualified candidates for the following position:

Senior Finance Manager
(Based in Dhaka)

The Senior Finance Manager (SFM), a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) of Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh (HFHB), provides capacity to deliver on short and long term objectives set for the Finance Department in support of the HFHB strategic and operational goals & objectives. The SFM provides financial analysis and support towards key decisions, strategic directions and plans for the growth of program as well as integrity of the organization.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  •     Develop, Implement, lead strategies and practices of financial policies and standard operating procedures under the national Government Finance rules and organizational International policies
  •     Provide direct oversight and support to the Finance Department Staffs and ensure that all transactions and financial reports are in compliance with HFHI and HFHB’s finance policies, local laws and accounting standards, as well as donor’s requirements.
  •     Oversee the development, documentation, implementation, and monitoring of internal control processes for the national office, affiliates and partners to insure internal controls are in compliance with HFHB finance policies.
  •     Work with HFHB other departments to ensure that HFHB budgets are prepared as required by HFHI and HFHB policies; establish and implement budget control and monitoring mechanism.
  •     Work with the National Director and the Asia-Pacific Area office Finance team in areas of Grant management &/or donor reporting, fund transfers, Internal Control compliance, and other matters
  •     Facilitate both internal and external audit as well as respond to internal and external audit recommendations in a timely manner.
  •     Ensure the effective use of HFHI-B’s financial resources and assets, proper maintenance of Inventory and fixed assets registers.
  •     Provide leadership to inspire, motivate, and build finance team capacity in pursuit of HFHI organizational objectives.


 Requirements:

  •     The ideal person should have a Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting (CA/CMA preferred) with 8-10 years’ working experience in financial management, a minimum 3 years in a senior position, preferably with a Development Organization;
  •     Advanced knowledge and experience with accounting software (preferably Sun Systems and Quick Books), and MS Office applications;
  •     Broad financial management skills to direct financial planning, accounting, reporting including but not limited to budgeting and cash flow management and internal control needs of the organization;
  •     Strong commitment to team management approach, including good managerial, interpersonal and negotiating skills;
  •     Proven capacity to interact and negotiate with international partners, Donors such as DFID, CIDA, etc. , government officials, corporate partners and grassroots partners
  •     Sound English communications skills, both verbal and written;
  •     Proven integrity and good character especially in the stewardship of resources, transparency and accountability.
